How dangerous is the idea of arming teachers?

This question is based in the usual American ignorance of the rest of the world. We’re the only country in the world with this massive problem of mass shootings. They have teachers, we have teachers. They have effective laws that restrict access to firearms, we do not. Why not go to the source of the problem and pass effective laws that restrict access to firearms? The usual right wing mantra of “FREEDOM” is actually bogus. Other countries are as “free” as ours, but because civilians are forbidden to own military grade weapons, their children aren’t dying by the thousands.

So, I spend about 80% of my career time teaching mathematics, about 15% of my career time doing advanced study in humanities/math/sciences, and about 5% of my career time doing research.

I have taught about 15000 hours of math lessons over the past 13 years and hold numerous degrees.
