Bloodline Revelation

Ava sat on the edge of her grandmother's bed, holding her hand as she took her last breath. It was a peaceful passing, but Ava felt anything but peace. Her grandmother had been the only consistent presence in her life, and now she was gone. As Ava wandered through her grandmother's old apartment, she stumbled upon a locked drawer in a cabinet. She jimmied it open and found a file full of old family photos and newspaper clippings. There, in black and white print, was the truth Ava had never known about her family's past - they were once a prominent mafia family. Ava's head spun as she tried to make sense of what she saw. A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. Ava's mother, Lena, strode in and went straight to the drawer. Ava felt her stomach clench as Lena grabbed the file and tried to close it. "You had no right to go through that, Ava. You have no idea what kind of danger you're putting yourself and everyone else in by looking into this." Lena's eyes blazed with fury. "Your grandmother wanted to protect you from all of this, and I agree with her. We've moved on from that life, and it's better for all of us if we stay far away from it." Ava felt a rising anger and betrayal. How could they keep this from her her whole life? How could they rob her of her own history? Ava knew what she needed to do. She needed to investigate and, in the end, seek revenge on those who betrayed her family. But first, she needed to gather all the information she could and make a plan. She would not let her family's legacy die with her grandmother.
