It is by definition twice as wise but the same speed… by wide I'm referring to how many bits the effective memory bus is. Memory is 64 bits l, ddr 5 being two 32 bits per per dimm. Double channel allows two dims to function as one 128 bit wide ‘virtual’ stick of memory.

So it allows more bandwidth on your memory, the fact that your processor gets faster, is a by product of it being able to read/write to memory faster. So the exact bump in performance will vary on cpu and usage. Things that require more memory usage will fair better, but as a rule of thumb a single channel set up wastes about 10% to 15% of its maxium performance.

This is not new it has always been like that. My pentium 4 got a mind boggling 12% more performance with double channel set up.
