The appointed candidate will be offered a salary within the range of CAD $85,000 - $110,000 annually, plus the opportunity for a bonus, a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, various paid time off programs, employee discount/perks and two retirement plans both with employer contributions

Primary Purpose

Under the guidance of the Business Intelligence Analyst, the Junior Data Analyst ensures the integrity of the university’s enrolment management data through monitoring accuracy and participating in initiatives aimed at both streamlining data entry processes and improving overall efficacy as well as providing resources and support as required for data-entry staff to perform their jobs effectively. Additionally, they support the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documents that communicate data findings to various stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of data in the student management system by conducting regular audits to clean data, fill gaps, and reduce data disparity.
  • Identify issues in data entry processes that lead to errors, collaborating with appropriate staff and/or supervisors to address resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Support data entry staff and/or supervisors with queries regarding system issues, reporting needs, and/or questions.
  • Support the development and revision of reporting processes for increased automation and efficacy.
  • Facilitate the preparation of data-driven reports from multiple systems, summarizing and preparing the visualization of data.

Position Requirements

To be successful in the Junior Data Analyst position, the individual must be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:

Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy with decision-making and data records.
  • Efficient, effective, and dependable time management skills in order to multitask, with flexibility to handle changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated skills in cross-cultural communications and to relate both constructively and professionally with students, faculty, staff and external partners.
  • A high level of ethics, discretion, and tact.
  • An ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of concepts and processes related to higher education institutions.
  • Strong computer literacy, including full competency in Microsoft Office programs.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Experience in using MS Power BI (and/or other data analytical software) is preferable.
  • Or a combination of education and experience directly related and/or supportive to the duties and responsibilities.
